PM-Cut Is a low cost Windows based Motion Controller designed to drive Plasma Cutting Machines.

The Controller has been designed to replace Burny, Cybermation and Creonics based Controllers on existing Cutting Machines around the World. PM-Cut can also be used for New Machines.
In particular the Controller is targeted at the large world market for Cutting Air conditioning Ductwork.

The stand alone Controllers which have been in use over the past 20 years were designed before PC's became reliable, powerful and in general use. Single Board Motion Control Cards are now available at low cost.

PM-Cut combines this latest technology to provide a replacement Controller that will prolong the life of existing machines at reasonable costs.

Overview

The complete Controller comprises 4 Items, which can be purchased separately.

a) PM-Cut Software: Resides in a User supplied PC/Laptop positioned next to the machine.
b) Controller Unit:  Electronics Box including Amplifiers, which interfaces the PC with the Machine Drives.
c) Cable Looms:  These are available for Burny, Creonics and Cybermation Interfaces.
d) Motors:   Motor-Encoder-Gearbox assemblies.

Controller Unit

This controller has been developed to be a simple inexpensive interface between  PC and Cutting Machine. It is designed to operate  a single plasma torch and is especially suitable for small ductwork shops.

Digital operation reduces complexity, minimises setup and relieves the PC from the task of low level control.
All the electronics is in easily replaced modules for ease of maintenance.

Integral Amplifiers provide up to 10 amps at 36v/48v and will drive most brushed DC Servo Motors up to 300w.

Interface to Encoders: Provides a 5v or12v DC supply to standard rotary Quadrature Encoders; single ended or differential.

The Controller Unit can be mounted anywhere within 3 meters of the PC.

Connections on the Control Unit: Round CPC available from AMP and other Suppliers

Cable Looms

Supplied if required. Standard interfaces are available for most Controllers.

Motor Encoder Gearboxes

The Controller has been designed and tested on several makes of brushed DC Servo Motors and accepts inputs from standard rotary quadrature Encoders.

• If required, Motor-Encoder-Gearboxes Assemblies can be supplied.
• 150watt and 300watt Brushed DC Servo Motors are available
• Low backlash Planetary Gear Boxes are used..
